He was in general law practice in Douglasville from 1979 to 1981, when he joined an insurance defense law firm in Atlanta with a statewide practice. He still has relatives and many friends in Douglas County.
In January 2010, it was a Douglasville lawyer who placed Mr. Shigley’s name in nomination as an unopposed candidate for President-Elect of the State Bar of Georgia.
